This morning was so beautiful and a little humid actually! It was a perfect day for my run! I ran 4 miles then walked 2. I am still trying to beat my fitbit friend that I mentioned before:)
This morning I read in my devotional. The author talked about stories and how much everyone loves a good story. He focused on the stories we tell ourselves and unfortunately, these are not always good and true stories. We put ourselves into these stories and keep ourselves stuck here even if we find out we have characteristics that do not fit what we have told ourselves, we reject it. The good thing is the only story that matters for our life is the story that God has written for us. Tullian Tchividjian says is so well,
“God is not interested in what you think you should be or feel. He is not interested in the narrative you construct for yourself, or that others construct for you. Rather, He is interested in you, the you who suffers, the you who inflicts suffering on others, the you who hides, the you who has bad days (and good ones). And He meets you where you are.”
― Tullian Tchividjian, Glorious Ruin: How Suffering Sets You Free
I love this! I would much rather know what story God has for me!
Today I got the kids right to work on school and they all did so well in getting it done! They were all finished by 2:00. It was so much better than yesterday! I had to be on Zoom quite a bit but I didn’t feel like I was sitting as much as some other days. I have been walking with my students during my daily zoom call and they even sat outside while we chatted! I enjoy hearing what they have to say!
Something I realized in the last couple of days is how much more I like my job when I have full access to my students! I miss them so much and they are what give me purpose for my profession! I can’t wait until we can be together again.
Parker and Alaina wanted to do the live workout today. I was not going to do it since I already ran and walked so much, but I will never deny them a chance to learn to take care of their bodies! They were troopers! It was not an easy workout and they did almost everything. I was so proud! I love teaching them to care for the bodies that God gave them.
In the afternoon I had a zoom training that talked about the traumatic impact Covid will have on kids/teens emotional well being. It was very interesting and sad. The training offered many ways to try to support children during this time and how to make the impact less. A lot of what she mentioned I am doing for my own kids but I am not sure how to do that for my students who are not getting what they need during this time. I believe it will be a very long time before our nation recovers from this!
After work we all took a bike ride! I led the family to an area of the neighborhood they had not been yet. It was the most gorgeous day! It was 72 degrees and sunny! I could have melted with delight! The ride was very peaceful. When we got back we fired up the charcoal grill and the kids had a special dinner treat! Hot dogs! UGH! They were so very excited! If you can’t tell, we don’t have hot dogs much. Lol! They really enjoyed them and to top it off we made a smore over the dying charcoal. We had a nice evening!
Final thoughts and challenge: So I am finding out that more businesses are opening and it seems tons of people I know are venturing out more. The few times I am out running or going to the storage bin, people do not have masks on. Yet every day our number of deaths and infections are higher than the day before. I am so confused by this. How is this going to end if we are not adhering to the guidelines? I believe the medical and science professionals are advising one way but the need for our economy to keep going is taking precedence. I totally understand this! People need to get back to work to make money!
I am mainly concerned about the media and what we are being told, I am not sure who to trust any more. There are so many opinions coming at us from so many directions. What are we to do? Is this going away soon, is that why we can open some places? How will they stop this from growing into an insane amount of deaths? So many questions!
On Friday our governor will announce if he is lifting our shelter in place order. He has not exactly given us any indication of which way he will be going with this. I am very interested to see what happens in our state.
Are you as confused as I am? Do you wonder if it is safe to go out yet? How will you make these decisions?
