This morning was cold and overcast. This week I am adding in runs on my non-run days instead of a walk. I just ran a quick two miles and then later I did a 600 rep challenge with my fitness group. Yes it was as horrible as it sounds but I felt great after finishing it! I love that I am having more time to challenge myself physically.
Today in my devotional the passage was from Lamentations 3. Lamentations is a very somber book showing the grief of humans. It shows the defeat after the destruction of Jerusalem and the sadness the people experienced. In this passage the author is explaining the devastation in his life but yet in the same sentence begins to speak the truth of the Lord. vs 21-23 “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
I feel like I do this often! In one breath I am crying to God, explaining how bad I feel but then I am redirected to remember how faithful God is and what is true about him still. There is something in me that is drawn to Him and his character that brings me comfort and hope.
The countdown to the end of the school year is on! It cannot come soon enough! The kids did great today! They worked hard and finished before noon. I am proud of them for staying focused.
Today the kids tried to put the new leash on the bearded dragon again. This time was much more successful! No messes to clean up. He was not a fan but everyone got a kick out of how cute it was!
For dinner Aaron grilled burgers for us and after I built a fire and we made banana boats. We make them a little cleaner than the original recipe but the kids still enjoy them! We got the kids to bed pretty much on time but Addie still didn’t fall asleep until late! She is still struggling to fall asleep.
Final thoughts and challenge: I feel like many of our days are becoming mundane. It is getting hard to find things to look forward to. I try to add something each day that is somewhat exciting to keep the focus off of not going out. This morning while I was running I realized that our kids have not left the house at all but once to ride along to Target for the curbside service and then for bike rides. I had the thought that we need to take them on a drive to get them out and away from the house. Currently the car is full of storage unit stuff so we need to drop that off so we can go for a ride. I am hoping to find a trail or something different that what we are used to.
What are you doing to keep things fun? Do you have things to look forward to? How is your family filling the absence of normal events or activities?
