I started my day with another 4 mile run and my time was faster again! I’m loving getting faster and stronger without feeling overworked! It was warmer this morning, there is an air quality warning for the day so it will be another hot one! I was able to join my coach for a live workout today! I missed them yesterday! My cousin joined me for some of it too!
This leaning I was thinking about how much I love my God time. I now have 6 things I do for this. I listen to the Bridgetown Daily as I walk for my cool down after my runs, then I read my daily devotional book “ The Mockingbird Devotional: Good News for Today (and Every Day)”, then I read the daily devotion from whatever plan we are doing on the Bible app with the women from my church, now the “Mama Bear” book, the Bible of course and then I journal in my prayer journal! It is really cool when the subject matter overlaps within each of these readings! I am grateful for the space I have been able to create in the mornings to foster a relationship with the Lord and to learn so much more!
I was out of the house a lot today. We tried something new for groceries today. We tried Walmart Pick Up. I think I prefer Instacart! They did a pretty good job but overall I had a better experience with the places I shop through Instacart. After that I went to Menards to get the things we need to finish up the projects in the house. I was in the store for over an hour and half and had my mask on the whole time and did not feel very good by the time I left! I cannot imagine having it on for a full day! Once I got home I just had time to put the groceries away, have a bite to eat and make the kids dinner before Aaron and I were off to our small group.
We decided to leave the kids home for the small group party since this was our first time returning in person. We were outdoors so it was easy to socially distance. It was so awesome to see everyone again! I really love the community we have with all the couples and the kids. I am excited to start the group back up in the fall.
Final thoughts and challenge: My life has changed so much, for the better, since I started finding time to take care of myself physically and emotionally. I always used to think that it was selfish to take care of myself and do something good for me but since I have started creating space for self care, I can see so many benefits. The main one being I am much more tolerable to my family. I am less high strung, I am able to relax more and my family can tell that I am healthier all around, mind, body and spirit! It was not easy to make this space for myself and sometimes there are sacrifices that need to be made and I have to say no to things sometimes in order to keep my appointment with myself but it is totally worth it!
How about you? Do you have a time in the day where you make time to take care of yourself or have you put yourself on the back burner? Do you have things you would like to work on for yourself but you “don’t have time”? Are you feeling burnt out and exhausted, having very little patience with your family and people around you? These are all signs that you need to create space in your life to take care of yourself. I would encourage you to start with just 10 minutes a day. Do something that helps you to slow down and reflect. If you need help with this please reach out! I am more than happy to share more of how I added this into my life!
